We'll start out with this rule of thumb for who should not host a baby shower. If the person had any part in the baby-making process, they should not be throwing the baby shower! Restated, the expectant mother or father shouldn't play host. So who does this leave?
Close friends and family members are the most likely persons to host a baby shower. These hosts are the most common for what mom will likely deem her main baby shower. Since showers are typically best served when there is not a big mix of attendees, others may host a second shower for mom.
Co-workers, neighbors, work-out buddies or any other acquaintance could also potentially host a baby shower. For example, a co-worker should invite other co-workers and not family members. A party where guests know other guests and have similar interests is always best.
