Baby showers are traditionally held one of two times.
Option #1: Before the baby is born
In general, a baby shower is held one month to six weeks before the due date. Since many births happen before the due date, it's important to keep this in mind. You wouldn't want the shower held a day before the baby is expected because, oops, mommy might go into labor right during the party!
When having a baby shower before the baby's birth, invitations are sent out two to three weeks before the shower. This will give guests adequate time to respond if you're requesting an RSVP.
Option #2: After the baby is born
Baby showers held after a baby is born are best held one to two months after the birth of the baby. This will give your honorees time to recover from birth and settle back into their nest.
When having a baby shower after the baby's birth, send your invites out 4-7 days after mom is released from the hospital.
