Your roadmap for the perfect baby shower

Preperation is key to any successful party. Here is our road map for a successful shower.
1 to 2 months before the party:
- Speak with the mom-to-be and decide a date for the baby shower.
- Choose a location. If the place is a public place, consider making reservations.
- Choose a theme for your baby shower.
- Determine the size of the party.
- Create a guest list. You will want to make a list of everyone´s addresses to give to the mom-to-be to guide her in sending thank-you notes.
- Plan the games and activities for the baby shower.
- Make a list of the food and drinks needed for the event. Those having a catered event will want to contact the caterer.
- Choose your invitations. Invitations in the theme of your baby showers will get your guests in the mood before the event.
2 to 3 weeks before the party:
- Finalize your menu
- Either order your cake or make preperations for the cake to be prepared before the event.
- Order the decorations for the event. These may include ribbon, posters, balloons, streamers, etc.
- Gather the party favors and game prizes for the event, preferably in the party theme. Gift wrap them if necessary.
- Address and send your invitations. Remember to include directions (consider directions from a major highway or similar landmark).
The week before the party:
- Gather enough chairs and tables. Ensure there is a very comfortable chair for the expectant mother.
- If you requested your guests to RSVP, make a final guest count. Phone calls can be made if necessary.
- Place orders for food if necessary.
- Confirm reservations if were required.
- Ensure a camera is available for the baby shower. Digitial cameras should be fully charged. Other cameras should have an ample amount of film.
- Begin to clean and prepare your house
- Buy and wrap your gift for the mom-to-be
1 day before the party:
- Review the games and activities.
- Set up the tables, chairs, and decorate for the event.
- Pick up the cake, or bake the cake.
- Chill the beverages. Purchase ice if necessary.
- Visualize how the party will go
The Big Day!
- Pick up balloons (if necessary). You may want to attach a couple balloons outside your door to guide guests to you home.
- Finish any last decorations. Put party favors in an accessible place. Depending upon the size of the party favors, a well-placed bowl near the entrance will do.
- Keep a notebook nearby to write down the gifts received. Also, keep a trashbag nearby the opening of the gifts to reduce in the clutter of wrapping paper.
- Set out beverages, ice, glasses.
- Set out the food.
- Greet your guests with a smile.
- Enjoy the party!
