The recipe idea:
Ok- we know the name isn't too appealing. But after you taste this cake, you'll forget all associations with dumping!
Ingredients:
- 1 21-ounce can cherry pie filling
- 1 15-ounce can crushed pineapple
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- Nuts and coconut, optional
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In 9 x 13-inch pan, dump cherry pie filling, pineapple and yellow cake mix, in layers. Sprinkle on nuts and coconut if desired. Next, cut butter into pats and lay on top of cake mix. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your oven. Allow to cool before serving.
This cake needs no frosting, but consider topping it with whipped cream.
