The recipe idea:
A rich caramel frosting is used to frost a variety of baby shower cakes. This recipe works especially well with the classic chocolate cake or the sour cream chocolate cake.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- Vanilla, to taste
Directions:
In heavy saucepan, mix butter, cream, brown sugar and salt. Slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla. Gradually add powdered sugar. Use more or less powdered sugar, depending on the consistency you desire.
