The recipe idea:
This classic buttercream frosting has been around for years, but it's consistently a favorite cake topper. Use it on any favorite cake for your baby shower.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup real butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (clear, not brown)
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons whole milk
Directions:
In large bowl, cream together shortening and butter. Add vanilla. Add powdered sugar to mixture, one cup at a time. Add milk, one tablespoon at a time until completely blended. Add more powdered sugar or milk, accordingly.
For chocolate buttercream frosting, simply add 1/2 cup cocoa and 1 teaspoon milk to existing frosting.
