The recipe idea:
A three-layered chocolate cake graces your baby shower serving table. This recipe pairs well with a buttercream frosting.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 2/3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 5 large eggs
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Farenheit. Grease and flour three 10-inch cake pans.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and cocoa in large bowl. Add 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water, and 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons canola oil. Mix together for one minute. Add eggs, 3/4 cup water and vanilla. Mix for 3-4 minutes with an electric hand mixer.
Pour batter evenly into pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, depending on your oven. Let cool. Cover and transfer to the freezer for at least 2 hours before frosting.
